Term2 -Session 1 Business

Objective: We were required to chose a specific group of customers that a company will direct its products and services to. These is call the Marketing Mix, the combination of marketing elements used by a business to enable it to meet the needs and expectations of the customer. At the same time we had to pick one of the following suggested collaborations and develop a product category and a suitable marketing mix.

Working analysis – Whilst I brought my SDS task and materials to the class, I didn’t plan or research what I was going to do with them, this made my working progress in class slow as I needed to think of ideas for my customer profile and the marketing mix. We also got the opportunity to chose a brand in group and develop a marketing mix for it, which helped my ideas greatly for my collaboration. It was interesting to experience and interact with the types of materials used in the design of footwear products. It made me realise how much more work goes into making the promotion of a product and how the customer is important, than I originally thought. As a result of my poor initial research I did very little in the class for my collaboration as I couldn’t think of ideas quickly. In the end this resulted in catching up at home, by choosing my customer and applying it to my marketing mix.

Things I need to improve – I need to make a plan before the start of the session next time so that I am fully prepared and understand what I have to do in class. If materials or SDS are given I need to make sure I have completed this so that it doesn’t impact on my learning in class time. Going forwards I focus too much on the details and that make my working progress in class slow, considering that i have difficulty to pay 100% attention with other persons talking on my side. As a result, I need to develop faster working practice to make sure the end result, is achievable in the time allocated.
